The venue and parking

The wedding is at Des Moines Beach Park with dinner and dancing to follow in the Dining Hall building (the park is a former summer camp).
22030 Cliff Avenue South, Des Moines, Washington
There will be signs and attendants pointing guests to pre-paid parking and to our gathering.
It's a busy summer Saturday at a small beach park, so some guests may be directed to park at the marina next door, a five minute walk to the park.

Getting there

By car: Des Moines Beach Park is about 25 minutes south of downtown Seattle via I-5.
If you are starting from Seattle or Burien it’s a bit more efficient to come down Highway 509.
Parking: Attendants will direct you to pre-paid parking.
Evening detour: The main street in Des Moines (Marine View Drive) will close after 5 PM for a parade, so if you leave early you may need to follow a detour (or watch a parade!).

The schedule

Please arrive at about 3 PM to find parking and get oriented. The afternoon will begin with a brief wedding ceremony on the lawn in front of the dining hall.
(Times approximate and subject to change)
3:00 PM  The site opens for guests, parking attendants available to direct guests to prepaid parking
3:30 PM  Wedding ceremony on the lawn
4-6 PM  Lawn activities, open bar and appetizers, games, socializing
6 PM  Buffet dinner catered by Lavish Roots
8-10 PM  Dancing with DJ Funkscribe

A note on the setting

This is a summer beach park wedding in the Pacific Northwest.
Daylight will last forever (9 PM sunset, nautical twilight ends at 10:30). But it’s not as warm as summer elsewhere in the US: our July average high is 74 degrees and evenings can drop into the 60s.
We recommend shoes comfortable for walking on grass, and a sweater or light jacket if you want to be outside in the evening. (Your car will be nearby if you want to leave anything there.)
Activities will begin outside and move into the dining hall for dinner and dancing.
